1 killed, 1 injured in Rankin Co. wreck | News
RANKIN COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - One person was killed and another was injured in a one-vehicle accident in Rankin County Thursday night.
The accident happened around 10:45 p.m. at Highway 43 and Ranchwood Road about two miles north of Pelahatchie, according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
A car driven by 52-year-old Willie R. Nelson of Pelahatchie ran off the road, over-corrected and overturned. Nelson was ejected and pronounced dead on the scene.
A passenger, 28-year-old Clyde J. Gates of Ludlow, was also ejected and transported to University of Mississippi Medical Center.
No seatbelts were worn, according to MHP.
